Originally printed in 1854 by the Democratic Press Steam Print company of Chicago, this 55-page booklet contains extensive documentation on the formation of the Joliet and Northern Indiana Railroad Company, its predecessor, the Oswego and Indiana Plank Road Company and its acquisition by the Michigan Central Railroad Company. This line, which became the Michigan Central's Joliet cutoff, was eventually deemed redundant and mostly abandoned. Today, a significant portion exists as the Old Plank Road Trail. |
